9 Things To Do With Kids In Brighton

A day out in sunny Brighton – the home of Toby Tiger – is perfect with the kids. We take you for a spin around the seaside with some super stop-offs. Ready when you are!

1. Shop in North Laine

Assuming you’re arriving into Brighton by train, it’s a great excuse to head straight to North Laine, just a few minutes’ walk away. Home to hundreds of independent shops, cafes and pubs you’ll be spoilt for choice. Kids can look up at the weird and wonderful 3D shopfronts and you can do some window shopping of your own... You’ll also find our gorgeous Toby Tiger flagship store, where we sell our lovely clothes and built-to-last toys, including pocket money treats. Come and see us for yourself! We’re at 11 Gardner St, Brighton BN1 1UP.

Top picks: For gorgeous things and stylish clothes, pop into Lavender Rooms and Badger. Feeling peckish? Head to Bagelman, Brighton’s very own authentic bagel bakery, with breads and fillings to suit everyone!

2. Chill in the Pavilion Gardens

Perfect for a run around and some time out, this lovely green haven in the heart of the city is a firm favourite with Brightonians. Soak up the atmosphere, hum along to the buskers and take in the view of the iconic Royal Pavilion itself. We love that the fact the gardens are looked after by a team of volunteers under strict organic guidelines and that the range of plant life attracts a host of butterflies, birds and bees. There’s even a great little outdoor café – but watch out for the seagulls!

3. Treat yourself at Boho Gelato

Rain or shine, there’s always a queue for an icy treat at Boho Gelato. There are loads of fun and fresh flavours, sourced from quality ingredients in a range of vegan and dairy options. Flavours change but expect to find the likes of Battenberg, Carrot Cake, and Sea Salt Caramel – along with some tasty toppings. Yum!

4. Bask at Brighton Beach

There’s plenty to do here that could keep you busy all day, depending on the weather of course. Skim stones in the sea, paddle in the waves or take in some watersports like kayaking or paddleboarding. Just don’t forget to pull up a deckchair and soak up the bohemian vibes. After some good old-fashioned beach fun, take a stroll along the arches for art galleries, bars and restaurants ranging from traditional fish n chips and ice cream to high end seafood. Further along towards the West Pier, you’ll find even more shops selling clothes, furniture and trendy little knick-knacks.

5. Pay a visit to Palace Pier

For most kids (and grown-ups!), the Pier’s a must-see. So get your coppers at the ready and take to the arcades. Wristbands are avaiilable for unlimited rides, but if you fancy a break? Head to the soft play at the end of the pier. Pure nostalgic fun.

6. Whizz along the Brighton Zip

One for thrill-seeking older kids (you need to be over 6), buckle up for the South Coast’s longest zip line at a whopping 300 metres. Climb the spiral staircase and prepare for descent! It’s a dual zipline, so if you're feeling competitive two people can race to the finish at the same time. Ready, steady… go!

7. Fly high on the i360

Glide up to 450ft in a giant glass viewing pod and soak up Brighton and beyond from above! Spot famous landmarks, funky rooftop artwork and stare out to sea - even try counting the turbines at the far-out wind farm. The ‘flights’ take around 25 minutes and run every half hour. Get ready for take-off!

8. Ride on the Volks Railway

The world’s oldest operating electric railway – always a winner with kids and a lovely way to take in the seaside while putting your feet up. Running from Easter to October, it’ll whizz you from the Aquarium near Palace Pier all to the way to Black Rock (where from there it’s a short stroll to the Marina), or the Halfway point is a fab place to stop. Here you can dig in the sandpit at Yellowave and watch the volleyball or head to the outdoor Peter Pan Playground… not forgetting the chance to enjoy a round of crazy golf… anyone?

9. Refuel at Fatto a Mano

Don’t go home hungry… this is the closest you can be to Italy while in Brighton - and who doesn’t love a good pizza? The dough’s made on site every day and there are loads of delicious flavours to choose from, including fresh gluten-free bases and vegan cheese. And, here's the best bit, kids eat free with every paying adult – hurrah!
